Vintage placemat & napkin set with spectacular embroidery — bold and elaborate. The handwork is truly out of this world, a showcase of skill and time-intensive labor. With echoes of Italian stylings, this is mid-century Asian embroidery at its most lush and luxurious.
Condition is excellent, unused. Hand laundered, clean and bright. We note a few smudges and a loose/irregular thread in the weave of one napkin.
Napkins are linen or a linen blend, placemats organdy. While the fabrics are perhaps not the finest, the embroidery more than compensates — striking, intricate, and unlike anything today.
