Rare and dramatic.
Vintage French Alençon tablecloth depicting a romantic Venetian scene with architectural landmarks including Palazzo Ducale, the Basilica of San Marco and Santa Lucia, framed by palm trees, floral garlands, gondolas and balustrades. A lush design worked with exceptional detail and depth.
Set includes 12 matching napkins, each featuring a vignette inspired by Venetian church façades and towers, worked in lace and semi-sheer linen.
Condition is excellent, gently used. Hand laundered, clean and bright. Half of the napkins were never used and are slightly deeper in color. We note an antique patina to the linen with subtle unevenness and slight shade variations. There are a couple of tiny openings in the lace, very minor. This set looks wonderful.
Tablecloth is rectangular, 68 x 100 inches.
12 napkins, 21 x 21 inches.
Photographed over black to show the design. Last images are best for color.
