A spectacular set of eight vintage Italian placemats, each one hand-embroidered and appliquéd with a different circus scene. Tightrope-walking clowns, ballerinas on horseback, monkeys riding zebras—the level of detail is extraordinary, and no two are alike. Likely a custom commission and assuredly one of a kind.
We adore this rare and playful set—beautifully made, bold in color, and visually striking.
Condition is excellent, gently used. Hand-laundered, bright, and clean. We note a few small areas of faint discoloration—but due to the vibrant color, we chose not to be aggressive in cleaning. In any case, it's difficult to notice and easy to forgive. This set is an absolute showstopper—and looks amazing.
