Medieval Lovers Banquet Scene Vintage Rapisardi Embroidered Panel, Framed

An extraordinary vintage Rapisardi embroidered panel depicting a medieval banquet—lovers, musicians, courtly figures and feasting, all gathered in a walled garden. The scene echoes the lively narrative style found in the Très Riches Heures and other illuminated manuscripts: richly colored garments, period instruments, and expressive gestures worked in dense, textured embroidery. A rare and striking piece, full of movement and character. Hand embroidered on silk with exquisite detail. Made in Italy.

Panels of this scale and quality from the Rapisardi workshop are exceptionally scarce; in over 20 years of handling fine linens, we’ve only come across a few.

Condition is excellent. We see no issues with the embroidery or the silk ground. We’ve never had it out of the frame—when we found it years ago, we hung it in our studio immediately and have admired it ever since. It’s someone else’s turn now.

Photographed through the glass. Strong colors and beautiful artistry. The frame shows a few scratches and marks from age and handling.

Linen panel visible area measures approx. 11.5 x 16.25 inches; framed size approx. 19 x 23.5 inches.
