French Château Lobster Antique Damask Napkins, Set of 12

Lobsters, served in the French style.

Antique damask napkins, circa 1900, from Château de Kerguehennec in Brittany — on the Atlantic coast, in lobster country. The damask itself is woven in a fishnet pattern, with a rope border framing each napkin, finished with fringe woven from the cloth itself. Rare and remarkable. Old world grandeur for your most elegant table.

Condition is very good, gently used. Hand laundered, clean and bright. The red color has mellowed with age. We note a few dark specks and faint storage marks on the linen, and loss of weave on most antennae. For napkins of this age, they present beautifully.

Set of 12;
13 × 13½ inches without fringe / 16 × 17 inches with fringe.

*A companion damask set from the same château is available here.
