Sea creatures have graced the grand French table for centuries — but rarely like this. Hand embroidered langoustines, rendered in extraordinary, almost three-dimensional detail: every claw, every antenna, every segment of the tail. A full tablecloth and eight generous 29-inch napkins, handmade in France circa 1900. We have never seen anything quite like it.
Condition is excellent, gently used. Hand laundered, clean and bright. The tablecloth shows a few small rust marks and is somewhat brighter than the napkins. We note shade variations among the napkins and a slight antique patina. The langoustine eyes are faded on the tablecloth but dark on the napkins. All minor, the set looks marvelous.
