An extraordinary handmade Madeira tablecloth of monumental proportions—over 22 feet long—featuring bold rose motifs and fine Richelieu cutwork embroidery on light ecru linen. The design is distinguished by sculptural blossoms and deeply padded stitching, creating rich dimensional contrast across the surface. A masterpiece for formal entertaining, grand dining, embassy receptions — or just a huge Thanksgiving crowd.
Condition is excellent. The tablecloth appears unused, with all napkins clean and bright; a few may have been lightly handled. Hand laundered and carefully pressed. Subtle shade variation among napkins. Minor, this set looks marvelous.
An achievement of this scope would have required countless hours of coordinated embroidery and cutwork. Comparable Madeira Richelieu cloths are known to have taken a team of artisans nearly a year to complete—every motif and connecting bridge executed entirely by hand.
We’ve handled many Madeira linens over the years, but tablecloths of this size and workmanship are exceedingly rare. This is one of only two of such scale we’ve ever offered—each from the same estate, entirely handmade, each remarkable.
