Never have we seen such artistry in "Point de Beauvais" embroidery. Every bird – and a rabbit! – is truly a painting in needle and thread. Each figure combines a variety of colors in such densely worked stitches, it's difficult to imagine the time, effort and dexterity necessary to create it. That such things were ever made!
And these works of art can be on your table. For dinner.
Most definitely made in France, hand embroidered on sturdy linen.
Condition is excellent, gently used. Hand laundered, bright and clean, a slight antique patina to the linen, and some shade variations between the pieces. The placemats show some variations in size. All minor, these look marvelous.
