Exuberant Figural Antique Italian Point Venise Lace Tablecloth 66x102

Italian grandeur, over the top in the most glorious way.

Reclining figures, winged basket bearers, rabbits, dolphins, dragons and stags appear among lavish scrolls of leaves and flowers. On each side, a mascaron—an ornamental face worked into the foliage—looks out with an inscrutable expression, flanked by steely eyed hounds. So much to see, your eyes will never rest.

The lace is a warm, creamy white in person.

Crafted circa 1920, it bears the label of a long-ago shop on Florence’s Via della Vigna Nuova, still one of the city’s most elegant shopping streets.

Excellent condition, we suspect never used. Hand laundered, clean and bright, just a few detached connectors.

Tablecloth is rectangular, 66 x 102.
