Marghab’s celebrated “Hydrangea” pattern — known as Hortensia in Europe — was hand embroidered in Madeira on fine organdy and linen. Graceful and airy in appearance, the design is in fact extraordinarily complex, with each set taking months of painstaking handwork to complete.
An outstanding example of Marghab workmanship, one of these placemats is held in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art as a representative of fine Madeira embroidery.

Excellent condition, never used. Hand laundered, clean and bright, a few faint storage marks. Looks marvelous.
