Lush and gorgeous regional costumes of Italy—a rare and striking Baroness Rapisardi placemat set, hand embroidered in Italy. This is the first time we’ve ever seen this pattern. Worked on semi-sheer yellow linen, each setting features remarkably dense, richly colored embroidery depicting Sardegna, Abruzzo, Lombardia, Liguria, Val Gardena, and Veneto. The stitching is vivid and textured, full of beautiful detail. A standout set.
Condition is excellent, never used. Hand laundered, clean and bright, with some unevenness in the yellow linen and a few light storage marks remaining; we opted for a conservative clean to preserve the depth of the embroidery color. We note a small opening in the weave on on napkin (last photo). Minor, this set looks marvelous.
