Like nothing you’ve ever seen. Rare, artistic—a masterpiece out of time.
Exquisite vintage mid-century tablecloth featuring a lavish expanse of densely embroidered waterlilies, accented with metallic thread—rich in texture and loveliness. Entirely and amazingly hand embroidered, the set is assuredly French, likely from Maison Noël. Gorgeous on its own, it also includes three matching napkin sets: cocktail, dinner, and dessert. This is French couture for your table.
The tablecloth appears gently used, and we suspect the napkins were never used at all. The organdy is a soft ecru tone; we photographed it over white to highlight the embroidery.
Very good condition. Carefully hand-laundered using conservation-informed techniques—clean, bright, and well preserved. Due to the beauty and significance of this extraordinary set, we chose to be as gentle as possible in cleaning, as befits a cloth of this caliber. We note a few light storage discolorations on the tablecloth, some color transfer from the metallic threads onto the white embroidery, some pulls and waviness to the organdy, a couple of tiny ink flecks, and a few loose threads.
All easily forgiven. This museum-worthy set is striking, unusual—and breathtakingly beautiful.
