Vintage Rapisardi linen hand towel featuring the Contrada della Civetta flag bearer from the Siena Palio, hand embroidered in Italy.
A proud Civetta alfieri (flag bearer) stands in full festival costume with his banner. Civetta is the Owl contrada, known for its bold black-white-red colors, and the design reflects that heritage beautifully. Embroidered with rich texture, the pattern is inspired by the pageantry of Siena’s historic contrade and their centuries-old Palio horse race. Rapisardi often turned to Italian regional traditions in her work—the Palio designs are among the most striking examples.
Excellent condition, likely unused. Hand laundered, clean and bright, with a light antique patina.
